GDPR for the Advanced DPO

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has now come into effect, which replaces the existing data protection framework under the EU Data Protection Directive. To date organisations have worked to ensure compliance and avoid hefty fines of up to 4% of annual turnover or €20 million – whichever is greater. The job of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) continues as organisations strive to remain compliant and enforce their privacy policy to support their overall business strategy.

Programme Overview

For certain organisations, GDPR mandates the appointment of a DPO. For other organisations, the appointment is a matter of good practice. The role of DPO is comprehensively defined in GDPR and has a broad responsibility for dealing with several stakeholders such as the board, the employees, heads of departments and the local supervisory authority.

For many DPOs, there are a number of new responsibilities, and this course provides an overview of those extended responsibilities.
