How are senior executives disrupting traditional approaches?

In a recent executive coaching meeting, a senior manager remarked that she had reflected on the need to lead rather than manage change. Understanding how to lead change and transformation has become a key competence for successful businesses.

The business environment is now highly volatile and the speed of change unprecedented. To achieve competitive advantage and sustainability organisations need to be agile and able to engage in paradigm shifts, where threats become opportunities for innovation. Being able to survive and to compete effectively in the world of Brexit and economic uncertainty, changing workforce, technological advances and systemic global change requires challenging traditional views of the world and of business and employment.

Through my personal involvement in researching and developing innovative approaches to Executive Development I have witnessed senior executives from all sectors welcome the challenge they experience through the MSc. in Executive Leadership. The programme enables the executives to learn how to successfully lead change and enhance sustainability from world class leaders who have disrupted traditional approaches to business locally and internationally. Leaders such as:

  • Javier Barrientos Senior Director Global Diversity and Inclusion Biogen Indec. Who has developed an innovative Health Care company through leveraging the benefits of a diverse workforce. Javier was awarded the 2014 Leaders in innovation Award Boston Business Journal and named one of the most influential leaders in Boston.
  • John Brennan Brand Technical Innovation Director Diageo a former graduate of the MSc. Executive Leadership who is now responsible for the commercialisation of innovation and renovation of Diageo Globally.
  • Marie Marin Chief Executive of Employers for Childcare shortlisted as “finalist” in the Women in social enterprise category of the Social Enterprise UK awards 2017.

The leading change innovation and transformation module on the MSc. Executive Leadership provides a unique opportunity for business leaders to research and reflect on innovation, leading cultural change, and business excellence.

Learning how to critically evaluate your competence as a change leader and organisational capacity for innovation and transformation is a critical competence for leaders who wish to make their organisations competitive and sustainable in the 21st century.
