“Darcy the Dingo is about helping to teach and encourage children in a fun new way and as a parent this is something that I am very passionate about.”
When I began Darcy the Dingo, I was filled with great excitement as it was always a dream of mine to be my own boss! As time moved forward my excitement became more of a feeling of being overwhelmed and alone in business. I soon realised that while being in business was and is great – there are many “hats” that I needed to wear in order to be able to build my business and for it to grow.
“I found it a challenge to be able to prioritise and felt I was slipping back instead of moving forward…”
With so many things needing to be done I found it a challenge to be able to prioritise and felt I was slipping back instead of moving forward in the way I wanted to. I was becoming stuck in a rut and I needed to figure a way out of it. When I saw the Springboard+ Entrepreneurs Programme advertised I felt it ticked the boxes I needed so I applied. Over the course of the programme it became very clear that I was going to gain a lot more than I thought and the excitement that I once had, was reignited!
When I began my journey in business I thought I had a clear vision of where I was going and what my business was about but I soon realised this was not the case. I learned from taking part in the programme that I needed to rewind and start from the beginning and drill down further to not only defining my “Why” but also to be clearer as to what success meant for me. Having a better understanding of both of these allowed me to be able to plan better to grow my business and also to know where my strengths for the business really are.
“I have regained a confidence I had lost which has inspired me to move forward…”
I feel now that I am equipped with a “toolkit” to enable me to plan better and set goals for within my business and for myself. I have regained a confidence I had lost which has inspired me to move forward and to put myself out there within the business world – so much so that I am now networking more and am an active member of the Women’s Inspire Network.
I feel more excitement now than when I first began my journey as an entrepreneur and I am looking forward to the changes ahead for Darcy the Dingo and me!
