The AI Challenge for Skilled Workers

PUBLISHED 16 JUNE 2023

Dealing with the challenges

The ever-evolving story of AI reaches into all business sectors, and we are gradually gaining an appreciation of the challenges which will be presented by machine learning and artificial intelligence in the area of skills across the entire workforce.

Speaking today at the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) Budget Perspectives 2024 conference in Dublin, John McCarthy, chief economist of the Department of Finance, said that the Government will need to “maximise the winners and help the losers” in the workforce as AI plays a greater role in day-to-day life.

Co-operation on policy

No doubt we will be hearing more as the dialogue continues, especially in relation to the development of future-proofed skills.
